Tartufi&Friends (Milan): a restaurant making its way into a truffle lovers heart

I really like Tartufi&Friends. I know it’s a very banal phrase, but it’s true.

If you guys follow me you’ve probably already noticed that I like small and affordable places that make really good simple food. Or like chic and sophisticated (whatever that’s supposed to mean) places, but the ones that aren’t showy or that aren’t ‘trying too hard’… which again is why I really like Tartufi &Friends.

So when their PR Francesca reached out to me asking if I wanted to come to their cooking class, I was like YEAH, I’LL BE THERE!

I mean a cooking class (and there is always something new to learn) that featured one of my favorite ingredients, truffles, in a beautiful well-crafted location in central Milan. Check, double check, triple check. It’s like an equation for Thea heaven.

We made three simple but delicious dishes: steak tartare with truffles, fresh egg pasta with (you guested it) truffles, and a reinvented tiramisu. But don’t let the simplicity fool you, just about any Italian will tell you, it’s the simple dishes that are typically the hardest to get just right because frequently it’s a few little steps that can move a dish from being good to great.

The cooking class is taught by Tartufi&Friends Executive Chef, Luca Mauri. His passion and love for cooking basically oozes from his presence. He has a stellar career behind him before recently embarking on this new journey with Tartufi&Friends.

The restaurant makes many of their dishes in house from the three different types of bread to the homemade pasta. The menu changes every 2-3 months along with the seasons.

Oh, and I should also mention Tartufi&Friends’ “aperitivo” where you can get well made cocktails along with some yummy truffle based finger food.

If you check it out definitely let me know what you think in the comments below.

P.S. If you love truffles then you’ll probably love my trip to Abruzzo with a truffle hunting class and so much more. Check it out here.
