A few years ago I organized a small group trip to the Abruzzo region of Italy. It’s an area that’s particularly near and dear to my heart since I studied here when I first moved to Italy way back in 2002.

The trip was pretty awesome. Abruzzo is still relatively untouched by tourism and it’s beautiful. It’s a region that changes dramatically in a matter of moments: from a rugged terrain surrounded by snow capped mountains to white sandy beaches kissed by deep blue tides. In between the two you’ll see villages perched impressively on rocks surrounded by a sea of green.

Alessio runs Fattoria di Tullio, a family farm that has been in his wife’s family for over 200 years. Located in Loreto Aprutino, they specialize in extra virgin olive oil. So while there the group got to see how they harvest and press the olives. And then we had the opportunity to sit down and have a family meal together.

But they also make and sell a few other simply delicious things like a variety of tomato sauces, marmalades (apple and ginger, cherry, pumpkin), dried pastas (spaghetti, fettuccine, orecchiette), beans (OMG their “tondino del Tavo” a special type I’ve never seen anywhere else, that is oh so good).

They will ship their high quality no GMO products to places in Europe and in the United States and Canada. And if you live someplace else they may be able to get that to you too. You can reach them via email at info@fattoriaditullio.it to by phone to +39 328 6926205. They are super kind caring people and I’m sure they’ll be happy to hear from you.

Their website is http://www.fattoriaditullio.it.

If you live in the UK you can get their products online thanks to the Cucina di William.
