Fatto Bene: Collectors of Iconic Italian Design

Find incredible Italian gifts or treat yourself to a little something featuring iconic Italian design with Fatto Bene.

I first discovered Fatto Bene when I was just walking down via Savona, minding my own business. By chance, I spied their beautiful travel kits in the window of a store. I immediately went home and googled their brand, but I already knew it was love at first sight.

FATTO BENE: ICONIC ITALIAN DESIGNS

Fatto Bene is an online store devoted to curating items that feature iconic Italian designs. Their collection features everything from Modiano Playing Cards to Amarena Fabbri and Leone Candy Originals. By creating this collection, Fatto Bene’s founders, Anna Lagorio and Alex Carnevali – a husband and wife team – hope to create a place where people can lose themselves for a moment in interesting stories. Perhaps more importantly though, they want to create an archive of Italy’s most important designs.

Preserving Italian Heritage: Iconic Italian Design

The beautiful thing about the items chosen by Fatto Bene is that these items ring truest for Italians themselves. There’s no Gucci or Prada – instead, Lagorio & Carnevali choose to feature items that many families still use regularly. Items like Paneangeli Baking Powder, used to make cakes and found in most Italian kitchens, or Marvis Toothpaste, which you’ll spy in the windows of most Italian pharmacists. Despite being everyday items though, it’s impossible to deny their beautiful, timeless design.

It’s not just the beautifully curated collection that makes shopping at Fatto Bene memorable though, it’s their attention to detail. Each item comes with a postcard detailing its history. Paneangeli Baking Powder isn’t just baking powder – it’s the product of an ambitious young Italian who was determined to do more with his life. Toscanini coat hangers are so much more than a coat hanger – they’re an Italian icon, chosen from brands like Giorgio Armani and Bottega Veneta to refine their brand. Most importantly though, these are items carefully crafted by Italian designers & makers who constantly found ways to adapt and to innovate, without forgetting their history, culture, or craft.

Fatto Bene x Doing Italy

When I first stumbled upon Fatto Bene, Doing Italy was nowhere near the platform it is today. I was still starting out, and yet Fatto Bene helped me out. I ran a Doing Italy blog tour in 2017 and I’ll never forget the generosity of Anna & Alex. Despite only having a small audience, they gifted each member of the blog tour a customized package.

It still makes me laugh looking back on it because my (Italian) husband was so visibly excited about the gifts! These items are full of nostalgia for Italians, who have a unique appreciation of their culture. Of course, I absolutely adored the package we received as well, so it’s no surprise I still have not only the various gifts but the stunning postcards that came with them.

If you’re a lover of all things Italian (you can admit it!), definitely check out Fatto Bene’s archive and store by clicking on these links (Archive | Store). You won’t regret it.

What do you think? Are you Italian and one of these items holds special significance for you? Or perhaps you’re from somewhere else, but one of these products brings back a happy memory? We’d love to hear your stories and thoughts – share them in the comments below!
