Artknit Studios: Zero-Waste Italian Luxury Brand Champions Regional Artisans, Sustainability

Have you ever met someone or encountered something and fell in love with it right away? That was me with Artknit Studios . I discovered the brand while exploring a conference dedicated to sustainable brands in Milan a few months ago.

Why did I love Artknit right away? Because they make absolutely beautiful clothes. You know – the type of clothes that visibly radiate quality: sweaters, jackets, and pants made from extra-fine Merino wool, cashmere, and eco-cashmere. Pieces that are visibly super-soft to the touch, that will last, and last, and last for years to come. Artknit pieces are what I’d call “modern classics”. Pieces that are so simple, and so elegant, that you know they’ll still be in style years from now (because, again, with care, they will likely last you this long).

In a lot of ways, to me, Artknit is the epitome of Italian style.

The cherry on the top? The prices. When you consider the quality of these pieces, the prices are so incredibly affordable. For example, an extra-fine Merino wool turtleneck top for women costs $112.86  and Artknit’s knit polo for men costs $158.46. Pieces in cashmere costs a bit more.

But now you’re asking, “How is that possible?” That’s definitely what I was asking when I met their representatives. They do it by having an incredibly innovative supply chain. Your pieces are made by skilled Italian artisans only after you’ve ordered. The pieces are then shipped to you, cutting out the excess middlemen and added risks that drive up prices.

Besides incredibly affordable pricing, the focus on sustainability is another  benefit of Artknit’s business model. Since Artknit pieces are made to order, the creative clothier essentially has no wasted or excess inventory. And Artknit’s quality made, timeless pieces are designed to enjoy for years to come, unlike fast-fashion sweaters that end up in a landfill after just a few wears.

The Artknit representatives were kind enough to offer a €15 (more or less $15) discount code to all of you, my loyal and awesome followers: just use DOINGITALY15.

Definitely check out Artknit’s website, http://www.artknit-studios.com/, and let me know when you get one of their incredible, made-to-order, lifetime quality pieces.

Xo,

Thea

PS. Most of Artknits sweaters, jackets, and pants are washable! Yep, washable! I noticed that, for some reason, many brands only sell “dry clean only” wool and cashmere. (I have my theories as to why...) You can hand wash your Artknit cashmere, etc. in warm water – or dry clean, if that floats your boat.
